LVTGG December Meeting & Elections at Clark County Heritage Museum

The Clark County Heritage Museum, Las Vegas Tourist Guides Guild

The Las Vegas Tourist Guides Guild Board of Directors looks forward to having all our members joining us for the LVTGG Holiday Gathering & Heritage Walk Friday, December 7, 2012.

Join other members and their guests for a festive holiday walk around the Clark County Heritage Museum in Henderson, during this complimentary open house for Las Vegas residents. For those members enrolled in our certification course, what perfect way to end weeks of study.

The museum includes the Anna Roberts Parks Exhibit Hall and Heritage Street which contains eight historic buildings from the county. The museum focuses on the history of the southernmost county in Nevada with emphasis on the early Native American inhabitants such as the Paiute people, as well as mining, the impact of the railroads, and gaming. Exhibits include several historic houses as well as a recreated ghost town.

Heritage Street homes offer doorways into past decades, from the 1910s to the 1970s. The Boulder City depot and collection of railroad cars recall the railroad heritage of southern Nevada, while the arrested decay along the Ghost Town and Mining Trail offers a perspective on life in the hot and arid Southwest environment. So join us at the Clark County Museum, a place where you can learn about and explore the rich and colorful history of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City.

We will start our Heritage walk with an introduction and overview for Las Vegas Tourist Guides Guild members at 4:30pm, and then continue on as a group or individually throughout Heritage Street all decked out & decorated for the holidays. After the tour we may all head out to a local restaurant for a light meal or snack.
